2K Brings Onboard Apex Legends Developer to Rescue Struggling Action Game Ambitious Title

2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Management Change Follows Poor Response

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this decision through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a distinct direction.

The president noted that the developers is now reimagining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

A Pattern of Key Recruitment

The news follows a similar step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
