Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was 16.1 million. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
