PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
